painting is easy, it’s just that there are a LOT of lazy bastards out there that don’t want to do it. i love when old people come into home depot looking for OIL based paints. it’s all latex now!, it’s not the 70’s anymore, you cocksuckers!

Response to comments/general advice:
1. Not everyone is comfortable cutting in without painters tape. Not everyone is experienced, and not everyone is good at it.
2. Always use quality rollers and paint, or you WILL see the difference. Purdy rollers are great because they are made with dralon fabric and are lint free. Their brushes are great as well, but Wooster brushes are also good.

I don’t even have the time to pick your advice apart… almost everything you have offered up screams HACK!

Are you serious? You are not a Painter. You don’t cut the the entire room with an egg-shell, you cut and roll one wall at a time… and numb nuts there is a reason the REAL PAINTERS cut and roll the ceiling first. you are such a hack!

You are the worst painter I have ever seen!
I’m 17 and have already been painting professionally for two years.
Never tape interiors!
Cut with a Purdy 4” block brush.
You need some help man.
You could get it done in a quarter the time. Less waste.
Save materials and your budget! More profit.

General rule of thumb - ceilings go on first, it gives you a chance to pick up anything that hits the walls before they are painted. One more quick tip - when your roller cover is dry (new) get it saturated first before you start rolling it out. A lot of people tend to push a roller full of paint too far before the cover is saturated to the core - a good roller cover can be re-used MANY times if you don’t abuse it. — This also insures a more consistent peel throughout.

paintings pretty easy for a lot of people… but still tedious… its fun.. generally takes me about 5 to 6 hours to paint an apartment after a while ur just cruising with the roller obviously all the borderlines is what can be difficult… also on smooth surfaces that u dont want paint on.. which connect with wood.. u can always edge them using a cloth with a thick brim line.. thats a great trick. i used it today on baseboards on top of hardwood floor

Those look like expensive rollers

A pro painter does not need tape as shielding, and because of such, I have been fired two times for needing shielding while cutting in. If you have a nervous disorder like me, it is almost impossible to hold a brush steady.

Spackle is good. Buy it at any local hardware store. Then, cover up with Kilz.

November 24th, 2009 at 3:58 am
you may need to apply a primer coat over old paint before applying a new color, but you probably won’t have to scratch off or remove the old paint. thanks for commenting.
